Eric D. Cherches received his law degree in 1989 from Fordham University School of Law where he was a member of the Moot Court Board and Environmental Law Journal. He earned his undergraduate degree, with honors, in 1986 from the University of Rochester. Mr. Cherches is a member of the New York State Bar Association and the Suffolk County Bar Association.
After 16 years of practice in New York City, he returned to his hometown of Port Jefferson in 2005. He is the elected Village Justice of Belle Terre, New York, and is active in many local charities and civic organizations, including the Port Jefferson Rotary Club. He sits on the Board of the JTM Foundation of Mather Hospital and has served on the Board of Trustees of the North Shore Jewish Center and on the Board of Directors of Theatre Three. Mr. Cherches has lectured at the Comsewogue Community Adult Education Program and has presented seminars at continuing legal education courses through the National Business Institute. Mr. Cherches brings skillful, personal, hands-on attention to all of his clients, regardless of the size of the matter. His goal is to find economical and efficient solutions to his clients’ problems in accordance with their objectives.

Mr. Cherches provides his clients with the careful and caring attention they deserve in order to create an effective and comprehensive plan to ensure that assets are distributed efficiently and in the desired manner. His practice also includes the representation of Trustees, Executors and Beneficiaries.
In addition to his trust and estate practice, Mr. Cherches has litigated extensively in trial and appellate courts in state and federal courts in New York for over 29 years. Mr. Cherches also counsels individuals and businesses in all aspects of dispute resolution and risk avoidance. Mr. Cherches’ litigation practice encompasses a wide range of areas, including real estate litigation, contract and business disputes, landlord-tenant, insurance, employment, and construction law.
